Nevada became a state in 1864, and is the 7th largest state in America. For all of its land, about 86% of it is owned by the US government. Much of this land is used for military testing, and houses the legendary Area 51 top secret base.
The vast majority of Nevada’s population lives in the Las Vegas metro area, and the massive resorts and casinos in the area bring in an average of about $25 billion with their gambling and non-gambling services. Outside of the Vegas Metro Area, cattle and various types of other farming make up the majority of the rest of the state’s economy.
